TACLOBAN CITY – A village chair was killed while his wife was wounded after being shot on their way home, Wednesday (July 23), along the boundary of Brgy. Guinbaoyan Norte and Brgy. Guinbaoyan Sur, Calbayog City, Samar.
The victims were identified as Anastacio Catalan, 59, punong barangay of Brgy. Tapae, Calbayog City, and his wife Remegia, 53. Initial investigation revealed that while the victims were on their way home onboard a tricycle, two unidentified male suspects suddenly appeared from behind and shot Anastacio in his head. Remegia was also shot on her left thigh.
The suspect immediately fled the scene on board a single motorcycle going in the opposite direction. Remigia was rushed to Calbayog District Hospital for treatment while Anastacio was left at the crime scene for processing and investigation.
LtCol. Dinvir Revita, Calbayog City Police Chief, said they recovered a fired cartridge case of a caliber .45 pistol.
