TACLOBAN CITY – Armed men clad in bonnets barged into the house of a businessman and shot her inside her bedroom in Brgy. District 1, Ormoc City, Tuesday (August 1).

Police identified the victim as Emily Porcadilla, 55, alias “Emyat,” an ukay-ukay trader, and a resident of the said place.

The Ormoc City Police Office (OCPO) said they saw the victim lying on the bed lifeless after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

Initial investigation revealed that before the said incident, the victim was in her room when several unidentified armed persons suddenly appeared and shot her several times resulting in her instantaneous death.

The suspects managed to escape on board a red van going in an unknown direction.

A hot pursuit operation was conducted for possible apprehension of the fleeing suspects but to no avail.

Meanwhile, after the SOCO processed the crime scene and the situation inside the house calmed down, a person who hid himself on the second floor of the house during the shooting came down bringing with him a bag.

Said person was identified as Michael Perez, 33, also a resident of the said place.

The police discovered a sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu with an estimated weight of two grams and an estimated street value of PHP 13,600.

Perez denied owning the shabu recovered from his bag. He suspects that it was placed inside his bag by the killers of Porcadilla who went up to the second floor during the shooting.

Charges of violations of Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Law against Illegal Drugs of 2002 are being prepared against Perez who was only released from prison last July 10, 2020 for illegal drug offenses in 2016. By Marie Tonette Marticio (EV Mail July 31-August 6, 2023 issue)
