ORMOC CITY – Agents from the Ormoc City Police Office (OCPO) led by Police Col. Nelvin Ricohermoso and from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 8 headed by its Team Leader Police Major J-Rale Paalisbo arrested a big-time drug personality in Leyte, seizing a total of PHP 5.2 million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Linao, this city, on December 9, 2022.

Busted was suspect Riza Wenceslao, also known as Lyka/Madam, 44 years old, and a resident of the said barangay.

Accordingly, Wenceslao was caught selling sachets of suspected shabu said to be worth PHP 300,000 to a police officer who acted as a poseur-buyer during the said buy-bust operation.

Also seized from the suspect were 58 big packs of suspected shabu as well as a few sachets containing a substance similar to “brown sugar”, during a routine check on the suspect by the police officers in the presence of a barangay official and a representative of the media.

Base on the initial investigation, the agents yielded 768 grams of suspected shabu, which has, accordingly, a market value of PHP 5,222,400.

Meanwhile, Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez emphasized to illegal DRUG peddlers to refrain from conducting their illegal activities within the Fourth District of Leyte and most especially in Ormoc City.

On the one hand, Fourth District of Leyte Representative Richard I. Gomez thanked the law enforcers for acting quickly on his request to continue the fight against illegal drugs in Ormoc City and in the entire District. Wenceslao is now under the custody of the RPDEU and will be charged with violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
