ORMOC CITY – A total of 100 Ormocanon 4Ps benificiaries graduated during the Pugay Tagumpay Ceremony, which took place at the Multipurpose Hall of the new Ormoc City Hall on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.

The said activity bannered the theme, “Pagkilala sa Pamilyang Nagtapos bilang Miyembro-Benipisyaryo ng Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program,” with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 8 leading the graduation ceremony.

Accordingly, the graduation of 4Ps beneficiaries signifies that they have accelerated from being on the survival or subsistence level to being self-sufficient, and that exiting from 4Ps will give other poor households the chance to be part of it.

During the activity, Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez honored the 4Ps graduates for their commitment and sacrifice because, accordingly, not everyone who is helped by the government endures.

Mayor Gomez also congratulated the said graduates for their elevated or increased economic status.

Moreover, the mayor also said the major goal of the government is to help those in need, and there is an intention that the time will come when those who are being helped will actually progress.

The 4Ps is a human development measure of the Philippine government that provides conditional cash grants to the poorest of the poor to improve the health, nutrition, and education of children aged 0–18.The activity was graced by City Councilor Carmen Jean Torres-Rama; Abner Arintoc of Provincial Link, Leyte; CSWD Officer Jovita Ares together with Maribel Gucela of CSWD; City Action Team Leader Ma. Charyl Manlosa; PLtCol. Amodia, FInsp. Gerardo Longakit; and Avelina Molato of the City Agriculture Department (CAD). By Gwen Maurillo (EV Mail June 19-25, 2023 issue)
