THE CITY Agriculture Department, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Ormoc and other agencies, launched the grand opening of KADIWA Ormoc City in Brgy. Alegria on Tuesday (February 28).
This is in line with the theme, “Kadiwa Ani at Kita,” and the said initiative aims to help local consumers have accessible products at affordable prices and to strengthen market linkages between farmers and consumers.
The KADIWA Center sells processed, fresh, and manufactured products at very affordable prices.
DTI Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist-OIC Nathaniel Dominguez said that this program navigates addressing social problems and structural issues in agricultural products. He added that the adoption and implementation of this platform may trigger a robust economy for agricultural production.
Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Member Peter Rodriguez stated that this was initiated by LGU-Ormoc to help local producers and consumers provide access to safer, more efficient, and more affordable products.
“We are hoping that the success of KADIWA will flourish, and together, let us help support local farmers in the city,” he added.
The center was blessed by Rev. Fr. Beethovan Rosal, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony also took place, which was joined by SP Member Peter Rodriguez and DTI Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist-OIC Nathaniel Dominguez. By Joanna Grace Duenas (EV Mail Feb. 26-March 3, 2024 issue)
