TACLOBAN CITY – Airissh Ramos, Eastern Samar’s candidate for Miss Universe Philippines (MUPh) bagged this year’s National Costume award at the Leyte Normal University here, Thursday (May 4).

Her costume was designed by John Hubert Capito and her KATAW handmade earrings were made by Jana Evardone.

She also won as Tingog ng Filipina for Visayas, handpicked by the representatives of the Eastern Visayas region and Tingog Party List.

For Luzon, Krishnah Marie Gravidez from Baguio, and Agusan Del Norte’s representative Jannarie Zarzoso won for Mindanao.

Each of them received PHP 100,000 from Tingog.

Said candidates were chosen for exemplifying the beauty, values, and smarts that a modern and empowered Filipina must possess to inspire others.

Meanwhile, Benguet’s bet, Joemay Leo, got 1st runner-up, while Kimberly Escartin of Southern Leyte landed as 3rd runner-up during the pre-pageant competition.

They received PHP 50,000 each. The 38 MUPh candidates visited Eastern Visayas for a five-day tour hosted by House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Tingog Partylist Representatives Yedda Marie Romualdez and Jude Acidre, the Department of Tourism-Eastern Visayas, the Provincial Government of Leyte, Tacloban City Government, and Provincial Government of Samar.
