ORMOC CITY – As the farmers of Barangay Cabintan Ornamental Plant Propagators wanted to start organic farming, LGU-Ormoc, through the City Agriculture Office (CAO), launched and conducted an orientation on the subject matter under the Balik Probinsya Bagong Pag-asa Program (BP2P), which took place in Brgy. Cabintan, this city, on November 4, 2022.
According to Avelina Molato of the Marketing and Research Division under the umbrella of CAO, the said orientation is to come up with an Agri-Eco Hub in region 8, one of which is Ormoc City, adding that Brgy. Cabintan has been identified to be a pioneer for said tourism hub, targeting 100 hectares of farmland going organic. During the said activity, a ceremonial unveiling of the Agri-Eco Hub Marker also took place, led by City Councilor Rey Evangelista, the Committee Chairman on Agriculture and Fisheries and Agrarian Reform, together with City Agriculturist Maria Elena Mendoza, and other guests.
