TACLOBAN CITY – The public is being cautioned by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office 8 against falling for fake information that has been going around social media regarding the hiring of workers for a daily wage of PHP 800.00 under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program.
Under the guidelines, TUPAD beneficiaries are entitled to a daily wage equivalent to the minimum wage in the region.
Based on Wage Order No. RBVIII-23, the prevailing minimum wage in Eastern Visayas is PHP 405.00, effective November 30, 2023.
DOLE-8 further reminds the public that the TUPAD Program is being implemented by DOLE in partnership with local government units (LGUs) through its public employment service offices (PESOs). By Gwen Maurillo (EV Mail Feb. 19-25, 2024 issue)
