AT LEAST six houses and 21 business establishments were razed by a fire that broke around 4:20 A.M., Monday (May 1), in Brgy. Poblacion Del Sur, Villaba, Leyte.

At least three people also reportedly suffered minor injuries and burns while 25 people or six families have been affected.

Initial reports disclosed that the fire allegedly started at a drugstore and spread out to the neighboring establishments. 

The local fire station then coordinated with the neighboring Municipality Fire Stations for reinforcement. 

At least 13 firetrucks responded to the incident coming from Villaba’s neighboring municipalities such as Kananga, Tabango, Palompon, Carigara, Capoocan, Isabel, Calubian, San Isidro, Matag-ob, and Ormoc City.

The fire was declared under control by the Villaba Bureau of Fire Protection at around 7:41 A.M. on the same date. The local government unit of Villaba and the BFP are yet to release information on the extent of the damage since the clearing operation is still ongoing.
